Yet again, Kevin Spacey has been in court this week facing multiple sexual assault charges.
The 62-year-old disgraced actor is currently facing four counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
As he alighted from his silver Mercedes outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, a mass of media personnel mobbed him.
The allegations are said to have occurred between 2005 and 2013 in London and Gloucestershire.
At the time, Spacey was on tenure as artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theater.
Sky News lay out the recent charges in more detail:
In his defence, Patrick Gibbs QC says that the actor “strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case”.
The American Beauty actor, too, has said he is “confident I will prove my innocence”.
Where are those body language and lip-reading experts when you need them? Look at that smile as he’s escorted through the crowd:
The case was adjourned and Spacey was granted unconditional bail.
He is allowed to return to the US and his next appearance will be at Southwark Crown Court on July 14.
The Cut outlines Spacey’s history of sexual assault allegations:
Since 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey — who was starring in Netflix’s House of Cards at the time — had sexually assaulted him when he was 14, over 30 men have come forward with accusations, ranging from nonconsensual groping to the attempted rape of minors.
Spacey, 62, initially responded to Rapp’s allegations with a muddled apology note in which he came out as gay (a deflection many criticized as conflating homosexuality and pedophilia) and claimed not to remember the incident
Spacey released his “apology” on Twitter at the time:

His career then ground to a halt:
Following the initial wave of allegations, Spacey was dropped by his talent agency and publicist, fired from House of Cards, and scrubbed from film projects.
He retreated from public life, with a representative telling Variety he was seeking “evaluation and treatment,” though he has occasionally resurfaced over the years to launch film comebacks and post bizarre defenses on YouTube and Twitter.
However, the allegations and lawsuits continue to pile up – which you can read more about here.
This current lawsuit is the first time in a long while that the public has seen Spacey out and about.
