Do we need another Beavis And Butt-Head movie?
Probably not, but in 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America the iconic 1990s MTV characters did, well, only America.
26 years later, with creator Mike Judge still at the helm and voicing both titular stars, they are set to return in Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.
Premiering on Paramount+ on June 23, their latest sojourn involves taking to the skies.
Variety with more:
[The film] sees Beavis and Butt-Head… on a space mission with NASA in 1998 (the year after the original series ended) and winding up in the year 2022. As the NSA and the U.S. government track them down, the two struggle to adjust to modern life, while retaining their childish sense of humor.
Originally created by Judge for the MTV animated anthology series “Liquid Television,” Beavis and Butt-Head are two teenage slackers who share an extreme libido and complete inability to attract women.
Clearly, this was something millions of MTV viewers around the world could relate to, and a spinoff series featuring the pair ran for more than 200 episodes across seven series.
That’s partly why I don’t think we really need another movie but you’re more than welcome to disagree.
Cue that famous laugh:
Those starring alongside Judge include Gary Cole, Chris Diamantopoulos, Nat Faxon, Brian Huskey, Chi McBride, Tig Notaro, Stephen Root, Andrea Savage, and Martin Starr.
In addition to the movie, a new revival series is also expected before the end of the year.
All in all, it’s a good time to be a Beavis And Butt-Head fan.
