So far, Tom Cruise has survived those death-defying stunts that he likes to pull off on his own for all his movies.
He managed almost all of the jet-flying madness in Top Gun: Maverick, and can now be seen driving a motorcycle off a mountain in the trailer for the latest Mission: Impossible sequel.
The seventh instalment of the franchise, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, has all the globe-trotting action and Cruise-centric stunts that fans have come to expect.
Collider has more:
Dead Reckoning continues the long-running, Tom Cruise-starring action spy film franchise that kicked off back with the 1996 film directed by Brian De Palma and based on the 1966 television series of the same name.
The new trailer shows off Cruise’s Ethan Hunt back in action alongside his IMF team of Ilsa, Benji, and Luther, and facing off against a new threat that will no doubt upend his world.
Brace yourself:
It was slated to premiere on September 30, 2022, but is now set to premiere in theatres worldwide on July 14, 2023.
I know, that wait is as outrageous as the film’s high-speed antics.
The seventh and eighth instalments both suffered setbacks at the beginning of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both Cruise and the film’s director Christopher McQuarrie contracted the virus during production in Italy.
Mission: Impossible 8 – yes, this is the one where some scenes were shot in South Africa – had its release date moved from 2023 to 2024.
Surely worth the wait since we’ll likely see some of our country’s landscapes.
