What do you mean you don’t really care about the 2022 SAG Awards?
It stands for Screen Actors Guild.
You still don’t care.
Well, we’re here and we are doing the full list of winners, which often give us a good idea of who may come out on top at the Oscars.
The award winners are chosen by SAG-AFTRA, two unions that merged in 2012: the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Members include the likes of actors, announcers, broadcasters journalists, and others who work in the field, so it’s recognition that comes from your peers.
Without further ado, here’s Entertainment Weekly:
Apple TV+’s Best Picture-nominated CODA earned the biggest award of the night, with Marlee Matlin — the only deaf actress in history to have won an Oscar — praising SAG for validating the work of deaf performers in her emotional acceptance speech (as spoken through an ASL interpreter).
Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Will Smith (King Richard) both received huge boosts to their respective Oscar campaigns with lead victories at the SAG Awards, with Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) taking home the Supporting Actress trophy.
CODA’s Troy Kotsur took home the Supporting Actor trophy.
It was also a good night for Squid Game, Succession, and the wildly overrated Ted Lasso.
Relax, that’s a personal opinion and I know you love it for some reason.
Let’s get going with that list…
