On January 9, American comedian Bob Saget was found dead in his hotel room.

Saget, best known for playing the father on the wholesome 1990s series Full House as well as the rather dorky host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, had performed a set the night before.

Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany stated at the time that “there is no evidence of drug use or foul play” and said a full investigation could take 10 to 12 weeks.

Saget’s family has now confirmed that he died from the result of head trauma, reports CNN:

“The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” the statement said. “No drugs or alcohol were involved.”

…”As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter,” the statement added.

There had been speculation that Saget’s death may have been COVID-19 related, as the comedian said that he contracted the disease in December.

His family went on to say they have been “overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful”.

The incident report regarding his death said he was found with his left arm across his chest and his right arm resting on the bed.

Despite his Full House persona, Saget was known to have a wickedly dirty sense of humour which shone through in his stand-up routines.
