Leatherface is back to his murderous ways and there is no cancelling him, no matter how many phones you hold up to record him ripping you to shreds.
As the first trailer for Netflix and Legendary’s upcoming sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre shows, Leatherface was never going to be left to his own devices and psychopathic hobbies alone for very long.
The plot directly connects to Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 feature of a similar name, and the central psychopath is still wearing someone’s sopping wet face.
Not a great sign.
The official synopsis reads:
After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorise a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.
It is only the film’s out-of-towner protagonists who don’t know that Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré) barely managed to escape Leatherface’s (Mark Burnham) grasp.
So when Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), all so focused on opening up a new business together, enter the home where Leatherface is hiding, they don’t quite know how much danger they’ve just walked into, per The Verge:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s first trailer gives you the sense that, ignorant as its protagonists are about Leatherface, the movie’s going to spend a significant amount of time digging into what makes him tick and how this generation of victims truly isn’t prepared to deal with his brand of psychopathy.
Trailer time:
If you managed to get past the first scene where the girl does that horrible slow turn that horror movies love to tease us with, then good for you.
Watch out for the full film coming to Netflix on February 18.
