A Los Angeles Police Department helicopter was tracking a motorcyclist on the run, speeding along busy roads at 160 kilometres an hour.
After a few minutes, the motorcyclist hits an oncoming car at an intersection in a deadly head-on crash.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
An LAPD spokesman said, after running the license plate through the system, that the bike was stolen and that the unidentified motorcyclist was trying to make a dash for it.
The CBS News anchor reporting on the scene couldn’t help but gasp at the moment the bike made its ferocious impact:
Brutal.
The New York Post confirmed that the chase occurred on Roscoe Boulevard in West Hills, California at about lunchtime on Thursday.
Only the helicopter was tracking the motorcyclist, with no police cars involved in the high-speed chase.
