For some strange reason, a policeman at the Mitchells Plain Town Centre bus terminus unleashed a whole range of kung-fu moves on his fellow policemen yesterday.
A couple of videos have been doing the rounds on social media depicting the policeman spinning around with high-flying kicks and karate chops as the surrounding cops try to catch him.
IOL reported that he went into a manic state and can be heard shouting something about “the truth” to the crowd.
After a fair amount of running, spinning, hitting, and kicking, the policeman lies down in a huff and received a large dose of what appears to be pepper spray to the face.
After all that, the cops quickly restrained him while a nearby lady can be heard praying.
He was also apparently heard saying the following:
“Leave me alone, do you want to arrest me? What do you want to do? I don’t work for them anymore, I just have the uniform,” said the officer in the clip.
“Rastafari, we standing for the truth, we standing for the sons and daughters we don’t hide behind the lies anymore.”

CORRECTION: This happened at Mitchells Plain taxi rank earlier today. Very sad to see. I joked about it earlier but it is actually not a joking matter. It’s unclear what caused the breakdown, but some onlookers said the policeman appeared to be “intoxicated”.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said police management is aware of the video, confirming that they are investigating the matter.
They also confirmed that the policeman who “acted out of character” was referred to a medical facility for assistance.
