Apple has been keeping its plans for an electric, self-driving car quite hush-hush.
The company’s secretive operation has apparently been flying under the radar as Project Titan, with patent filings suggesting that they are indeed working on something big.
While the patents don’t immediately guarantee that Apple is making an e-car, a car leasing company has used them to speculate on the possible design.
Vanarama has considered Apple’s classic aesthetic from all its most popular products, like the iPhone and MacBook, combined with the patents to bring us the imagined version of the Apple car.
What we (might) get is a beautifully sleek SUV (aligned with automotive trends) in a frosted white finish and decked out with the delectable Apple logo:
Vanarama also considered the Mac Pro’s circular vents in the design of the mesh-like grille, with the retractable door handles resembling iPhone’s side buttons:
More from Mashable:
Last month Bloomberg reported that Apple is moving along with its electric car plans, and hoping to have something available as soon as 2025. The report said Apple is aiming for a bare interior without a steering wheel or pedals for a true self-driving experience.
While Vanarama (a British company, so the car is a right-hand driving system) still has a steering wheel in its renderings, it also envisions the seats fully rotating so that the interior transforms into a living room setup.
That might look something like this :
The patent also suggested that the door pillars would be removed to allow the doors to open more freely:
The dashboard will be familiar to us all – minimal, just how Apple fans like it.
And of course, there’s another classic feature based on a patent for an “intelligent automated assistant”. What would an Apple car be without Siri?
Vanarama’s interactive website does a really cool job of showing off the imagined Apple car and is really rather fun to play around with.
