The tragic on-set shooting that claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has taken another twist.

In his first interview since the fatal shooting on the set of Rust, Alec Baldwin has claimed that he never pulled the trigger of the gun which fired the bullet that struck Hutchins.

Baldwin is currently embroiled in two lawsuits, one filed by Rust gaffer Serge Svetnoy and the other by the film’s script supervisor, Mamie Mitchell.

During the interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News, an emotional Baldwin broke down at various points.

Here’s Sky News:

“She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with her, liked by everyone she worked with and admired.

“Even now, I find it hard to believe that, it just doesn’t seem real to me.”

Stephanopoulos asked: “It wasn’t in the script for the trigger to be pulled?”

And in comments that deepen the mystery surrounding the death, Baldwin replied: “Well the trigger wasn’t pulled, I did not pull the trigger…

“No, no, no, no, no, I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them, never.”

The movie’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who is responsible for handling all the on-set weapons, has claimed that she was sabotaged.

Industry experts have said live rounds should never be on set, and an ongoing police investigation is looking into whether recycled live ammunition could have made its way into a stash of dummy bullets on the set of Rust.
