When we were gearing up for Halloween back in October, we showed you the teaser trailer to Nightmare Alley, among other slashers, horrors, and thrillers.
With such an all-star cast, we have to touch on this noir psychological thriller once again now that the full trailer has been released.
Starring Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, and William Defoe, this remake of the 1947 film noir classic might just be Guillermo del Toro’s scariest movie yet.
“Expect lurid deception, twisted turns, and this all-star cast dripping in the decadent colours and deranged settings that only del Toro dare dream up,” read the teaser review.
Ready or not, here we go:
Following from his Oscar-winning The Shape of Water, the filmmaker is well known for his deep and dedicated love of creature features.
But for this one he seems to be taking a trip into uncharted territory, leaving monsters behind for something even scarier: people.
Per Deadline, the film’s official synopsis:
[The film follows] a charismatic but down-on-his-luck carny named Stanton Carlisle (Cooper) who endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a traveling carnival.
With some newly acquired knowledge perfect for a grift, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Blanchett).
The full nightmare will begin in theatres on December 17.
