Last night, I started watching Epstein’s Shadow, a three-part docuseries that unpacks the life, times, and crimes of Ghislaine Maxwell.
It’s alright, assuming you’re not already up to speed with most of her story.
The crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and those who enabled him will continue to be picked apart for many years to come, and in many docuseries to come, too.
Enter Chasing Ghislaine, a Discovery+ three-parter spearheaded by investigative journalist Vicky Ward.
More from Town & Country:
[Ward] is releasing her previously off-the-record conversations with Jeffrey Epstein…
The program, which is executive produced by author James Patterson, will premiere later this month on discovery+ and promises to be “an in-depth and revelatory look at the woman who is accused of sharing a twisted and chilling partnership with Epstein.”
…[Epstein’s] voice, Ward says, is key to understanding how Epstein charmed the wealthy and the powerful, and his methods of manipulation.
“What the transcripts really show in a way that nothing else can, is how incredibly manipulative he was. He had what I call a three-prong strategy: he would charm, control, and then con,” she says.
Ward says that along with the unheard conversations, Maxwell’s role in introducing Epstein to a network of rich and powerful men is also probed.
The official trailer:
The show will air on November 22, ahead of Maxwell’s trial in New York on November 29.
One gets the sense Prince Andrew will be sweating bullets ahead of both dates.
The New York Post has further details on some of those previously unheard Epstein conversations:
“Ghislaine is the best at what I need,” the alleged sex offender and pedophile says of socialite Ghislaine Maxwell in a never-before-heard recording.
“She’s my best friend — she has been for a very long time.”
… Audio from a 2002 interview reveals Epstein threatening Ward: “I don’t know what you’re writing, but if there’s any implication of wrongdoing, I will take legal action against you personally.”
Epstein died by apparent suicide in prison in August 2019, and Maxwell faces multiple criminal charges related to sex trafficking and the abuse of young women and girls.
