Speeding off from a roadblock is never really a good idea.
I’m sure the odd person makes a getaway, but you’re generally fighting a losing battle.
(A special shout-out to a friend of mine who once crashed into a roadblock many moons ago – no escaping that one.)
Police manning a roadblock on Monday were forced to give chase after a blue BMW sped off from the scene.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, who spoke with News24, the vehicle was stopped on the corner of Jakes Gerwel and Viking Way just after 3PM:
Police gave chase and the driver was apprehended shortly afterwards…
An image of the vehicle taken after the arrest showed the back windscreen of the car had been damaged during the chase. The vehicle did not have a licence plate.
Perhaps that’s what led to the police initially stopping the driver.
Once you speed off, though, it’s go time:
Twigg said the 44-year-old driver of the BMW was arrested for reckless driving, as well as resisting arrest.
I assume like most BMW drivers he also failed to use his indicators.
