You’ve seen the video of the woman in the Capitec branch, right?
Yesterday, we didn’t have much to go on when we covered the story.
Capitec seemed to have confirmed that the incident took place in its Strand, Cape Town, branch when it issued a brief statement.
The bank said, “We as Capitec are as perplexed by the matter which happened at the Strand branch as everyone else and we are trying to get to the bottom of this.”
The video, for those still out of the loop:

Well, things have progressed, with an update coming via News24:
A 41-year-old woman has been arrested for trashing a Capitec branch in Strand while naked, Western Cape police said on Thursday.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said Strand police opened a malicious damage to property case.
As for her reasoning, there is still much conjecture.
Some have claimed her rage was sparked by a declined loan application. Others say she was so angry because she was deep in debt, despite making payments for an extended period.
Capitec has confirmed that the woman did have a savings account with them, adding that she does not have any line of credit with the bank.
The bank also claims she “had a similar meltdown at an adjacent restaurant as well”. Here’s EWN:
The bank, on Thursday, said that it would be investigating the reason for her behaviour but so far they’d not been able to establish what sparked her fury.
In the statement, Capitec said it was hard to “give more insight into her behaviour as her words were inaudible”.
Her behaviour in the video does suggest she may be suffering some sort of mental breakdown. If that is the case, we hope she’s getting any help she may need.
