If this six-inch blade truly is the notorious murder weapon of the famed “Jack The Ripper”, than you can expect to see it fetch a pretty penny on auction. The knife was found in a stack of possessions belonging to Sir John Williams, the surgeon thought to be the infamous killer. A surgeon, with a surgeon’s knife? Never!

In accordance with every story you’ve ever heard on the matter, Sir John William’s great-great-great-great nephew, Tony Williams, believes that Sir John used the knife to disembowel five prostitutes in London in 1888. In a phenomenal display of five-star detective work, Tony gives this as evidence for his claim:

The person who carried out the killings had significant medical knowledge and Sir John was an accomplished surgeon.

A pathologist said the Ripper used the same knife in all the murders. He said it was at least six inches long, pointed at the top and about an inch in width – a surgeon’s knife.

Thanks for telling us what we already know, Tony. That’s basically like saying that the killer was always on foot, and he could walk, so everyone with legs is a suspect. You seemed to have cracked the case. Well done.

Tony has also apparently published a book on the subject, in which he whines about being related to Jack The Ripper. He goes on to say:

I found a terrible truth – I was related to this serial killer. A lot of members of our family don’t really speak about it – I think they are a bit upset.

They must be extremely unhappy, what with all the money they got from the book deal.
