When Hulu’s documentary Framing Britney Spears came out in February this year, Britney told fans on Instagram that she was very embarrassed by it and cried for two weeks.
The documentary refocused attention on Spears’ ongoing conservatorship and the #FreeBritney movement that believes she is trapped against her will.
She also decried Mobeen Azhar’s documentary The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship that came out in May.
It’s not yet clear how she feels about the latest doccie, Britney vs. Spears, from Emmy-nominated filmmaker Erin Lee Carr, which will be dropping on Netflix next week.
There is still work to be done to #FreeBritney as the 13-year conservatorship is only now being considered for termination several months after Spears’s moving testimony on June 23.
Netflix released the trailer ahead of her next big conservatorship hearing, with the pop star will once again heading to court on September 29, per Variety.
Yesterday morning, Spears’ attorney filed legal documents, urging, once again, the “immediate suspension” of Jamie Spears ahead of next week’s hearing.
Last we heard, Mr Spears wouldn’t stop unless he basically dissolved Britney’s estate, asking for $2 million in payments before anything changes on his part.
Here’s more about the documentary, which has been in the works for over a year:
The doc will centre around Spears’ conservatorship, posing questions about the necessity of the highly unusual legal arrangement and the alleged corruption of her father’s involvement, plus, the larger issues with conservatorship laws and the overall justice system…
It also seems that the doc will reveal new information, as the trailer teases a confidential document that was leaked to the filmmakers by someone involved with the conservatorship.
The trailer certainly hints at some explosive revelations:
Britney vs. Spears hits Netflix on September 28.
