Many favourites, like The Crown, Ted Lasso, and Mare of Easttown, did not disappoint at the 2021 Emmy Awards.
These shows, which have been central to many a binge over the last year or so, each won multiple awards.
Fans of Michaela Coel are also rejoicing as she finally scored a writing Emmy in the limited series category for her work on I May Destroy You.
The 73rd edition of the Television Academy’s top honours was hosted by Cedric the Entertainer with a much smaller audience in LA’s Microsoft Theatre.
Although, it was more of an event than last year’s celebration, which was held mostly via Zoom.
Per Entertainment Weekly, this year’s nominees were the most diverse to date. However, all the major acting awards went to white performers.
At least RuPaul’s Drag Race claimed its fourth consecutive Emmy trophy for the Outstanding Competition Program, allowing RuPaul to make Emmy history by being a person of colour with the most wins.
Anyway, we’ll move on to the full list of winners, guaranteed to provide all the fodder for your ‘must watch’ series list, if you haven’t seen everything already.
Nice to know that many of them are on Netflix or Showmax, too.
