The Met Gala saw some interesting looks this year, to put it mildly, with celebs dressed to the nines for the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”.
It looked like a riot, but the red carpet was really just a warm-up for the real shenanigans that were bound to happen later that evening.
So far I’ve been able to count six after-parties with star-studded attendees in multiple outfit changes.
Let’s dive right in because heck, all the celebs sure did.
There was designer LaQuan Smith’s carnivalesque party under the Kosciuszko Bridge, per The New York Times:
Smith channelled the bacchanal spirit of Alexander Wang and hosted a carnival-esque party under the Kosciuszko Bridge, complete with cupcake stations, a vegan burger food truck and THC-infused shrimp cocktails.
ASAP Ferg performed under one of the bridge’s soaring piers.
The image above shows some partygoers living their best life at this party.
Apparently, Smith (below left) arrived quite late to his own party, at around 1AM, as one does:
Somewhere else in Brooklyn, Pyer Moss hosted at Junior’s on Flatbush Avenue for his own after-party, which looked as though some wild-abandon was taking place.
Then there was Alicia Keys’ after-party, per E!Online, that had guests like Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette Prieto, as well as someone slightly unexpected:
Yeah, that’s Elon Musk, not partying with his partner Grimes who was probably elsewhere looking extraterrestrial.
But the hottest party of them all had to have been with Rihanna’s at Davide, nightlife mogul Rickie Akvia’s new spot.
Here’s Cara Delevingne, A$AP Rocky, Riri herself, and Akiva together at the shindig:
Vogue below:
Between the buzzy crowd dressed to the nines, the mob of people eager to say the right name at the door, and lack of central air condition, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly made Rihanna’s annual afterparty so hot this year.
The party came decked out with feathery pampas, a Fenty pink American flag, and so many big names:
Hot couples like Yasmin Wijnaldum and Thomas Doherty; Talita von Furstenberg and Rocco Brignone; Ella Emhoff and GQ’s Samuel Hine, mingled with bachelors like Brandon Lee Thomas and Victor Cruz.
Other celeb sightings include Mary J. Blige, Cara Delevingne, Hunter Schaeffer, Naomi Osaka, Alton Mason, Sza, Lili Reinhart, Teyana Taylor, Megan Rapinoe, Rosalía, Tommy Dorfman, and Vogue cover star, Lorde.
Lil Nas X also showed up at around 1AM, this time stripped down even more:
Check out more from Riri’s party here.
Those who weren’t partying it up with Rihanna must have been at The Standard Hotel club’s Boom Boom Room.
Julia Garner is seen getting a side squeeze from Timothée Chalamet, who was one of the hosts at the main Met Gala event:
Billie Eilish made an appearance, adding to the number of notably young folks attending this year’s parties:
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, fresh out that tussle with UFC fighter Conor McGregor at the MTV Video Music Awards, came out looking as hot as ever:
Oh look, Darth Vader came.
No, sorry, it’s just Kim Kardashian:
Honestly, the look is so anti-social. How she is supposed to move around and talk to people looking like that is beyond me.
Kendall Jenner seems to have gotten it right throughout the night, changing from that gorgeous nude Givenchy gown to a ravishing red mini dress for the after-party:
Seems like Kim Petras brought some friends:
Fun times.
