So you’re keen on moving to Newlands, hey?
It’s a lovely area, as long as you can put up with the temperature dropping nice and early in the evening.
There’s a reason some locals call it Mordor.
All that aside, there’s plenty of greenery, you’re pretty central between the CBD and the rest of the Southern Suburbs, and Newlands Village is nearby for all your shopping and café and coffee shop needs.
Seth did a search for three-bedroom houses on Property24 (house, not townhouse), and you’re basically starting at around R3,8 million and moving up from there.
The listing that caught Seth’s eye is going for R4,3 million, with a shot of the front door right up top.
Here’s the write-up along with a few snaps:
Cape Dutch style semi-detached home in quiet Newlands Village with expansive views of Table Mountain.
A North facing house, close to all amenities, within walking distance of Table Mountain National Park, UCT and the Claremont CBD. Excellent schools nearby…
A sought after area for young and old. Private sale.
I can’t say the pictures wow me, but that’s often the case when there is no furniture.
At least there’s double off-street parking:
Any Newlands property listing has to have the obligatory shot of the mountain:
Ah, power lines.
As they say in The Castle, power lines are a reminder of man’s ability to generate electricity.
Or, in South Africa, a reminder of Eskom’s inability…
What else can I say about this property? It’s on La Cases Road, it has 1,5 bathrooms, and some lovely bougainvillaeas.
