People have been enthralled by strange objects in the sky for centuries.
Likely because a UFO signifies endless possibilities, and while some are completely unknown, others are totally explainable.
Often, despite what authorities say on the matter, people will go to great lengths to prove that the objects are a sign of extraterrestrial life.
Even when these UFOs are indeed balloons with flares on them released by pranksters trying to prove a point about how easily a hoax can get out of hand, and how people prefer an exciting story over reality.
VICE puts out a series called Fakes, Frauds & Scammers on YouTube, with one titled How We Staged a UFO Hoax.
In it, we meet Joe Rudy and Chris Russo who reveal their UFO hoax as a “social experiment”.
Simply put, the truth often gets hidden by a combination of human imagination, fortuitous light, and a lack of understanding in the sciences.
