We still have a decent stretch of winter left before spring moves in with all its buds and blossoms, and that means there are still a few opportunities left to enjoy a satisfying glass of red wine.
Whether that be near a warm fire, as a midweek treat, or a special dinner at home, we’re all pretty decent at finding an excuse to sip on the good stuff when the urge strikes.
Especially since we are not sure if an alcohol sales ban will leave us high and dry again.
Thankfully, there are Reds for Every Occasion.
Anthonij Rupert Wyne is doing us all the favours with this case of six specially selected red wines going for R700, down from the usual R805 a case.
Here’s that selection in all its glory:
The oldest and more established wine in the collection is the Cape Of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier 2015 Syrah (second from the left).
It has aromatics of fynbos with herbaceous whiffs, extending to plum and dark fruit characteristics on the nose, all whilst being bold and powerful.
The Optima (left) is a Cape icon, made up of the seductive interplay of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
The Protea Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are vibrant and light enough for that Saturday picnic spent in the last of winter’s sun rays.
If you’re more of a sit-down-at-dinner kind of person, the Cape Of Good Hope Southern Slopes Red Blend (third from the left) can be seamlessly integrated into any meal.
A beef short rib braised in red wine and cooked slowly in a potjie pot with mushrooms and gremolata sounds like the perfect meal pairing.
To finish, the broody and smokey Terra Del Capo Sangiovese (on the right), because nothing will say full stop quite like a glass of this Darling red wine.
Snap up your Reds For Every Occasion box here, with the special running until August 31, or until stocks last.
