Ryan Joffe.
Remember the name.
One of the Atlantic Seaboard’s most colourful characters, Joffers has been in the news of late, with interest in The Rockefeller at Harbour Place development spiking in recent days.
Like John Davison Rockefeller Sr. himself, who was an American business magnate and philanthropist, Joffe is known to enjoy a jet-setter lifestyle, sometimes bringing friends along for the ride.
In 2018, Joffe was interviewed by IOL, with the development stating it had already sold R220 million worth of units within the span of one week:
The developers said that the construction of The Rockefeller is to provide accessible and affordable apartment living within the CBD.
“There are no other developments within the Cape Town CBD at this price point, and in an over-subscribed and under-supplied market, prices have soared and owning property has become largely out of reach for many”, says founder of Ryan Joffe properties, Ryan Joffe.
2018 was a different time, pre-pandemic and all, so we popped onto Ryan Joffe Properties to see what price range we’re dealing with.
It looks like R500 000 is not going to cut it.
Apartments in the block, located in the middle of the Cape Town Foreshore, start from R1,5 million, with sizes ranging from 25m² to 44m²:
One of the value-adds offered to owners is the optional Hotel Rental Pool management platform designed to take the day-to-day pain of property letting away…
[There is also a] concierge service which is geared to receive deliveries and aid with other smaller errands for residents.
The development’s listed features include a restaurant and bar, a rooftop pool, a communal clubhouse, 24-hour security, laundry service, fibre, and CCTV security.
Perfect for catching anybody sneaking in and out.
A quick peek at the interior of one of the apartments:
More more more – when you just can’t get enough.
The Rockefeller’s official site also notes that “if your wanderlust is calling, all the very best the City has to offer is right outside your door”.
The Rockefeller isn’t Joffe’s only endeavour, and he also has a few projects on the side.
One of those, reports The Daily Maverick, BlackBrick Cape Town in the city’s CBD, sold 60% of its micro-units in its first week.
Joffe has been a mover and a shaker in the industry for the best part of a decade.
During one 2013 interview with MWEB Entrepreneur, Joffe was asked what quality he looks for in people that he works with.
From the 16:10 mark:
Loyalty, honesty, and somebody who shares the same passion for real estate. Wise words.
Ryan goes on to say that he handles stress well, which will serve him well as the spotlight intensifies.
The property business is cutthroat, and cash is king (especially if you’re caught in a pickle), so best of luck to Joffers.
