The weekend’s sporting news was dominated by England’s Euro 2020 final loss to Italy, and the very poor behaviour of thousands of English fans.
Novak Djokovic also wrapped up a 20th Grand Slam title, equalling the tally of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, and Lionel Messi finally won an international major tournament, cementing his place in history as the greatest footballer of all time.
I woke up at 2AM to watch the Copa América final, and it was well worth it.
The early morning wake-up also meant I got to keep an eye on UFC 264, with the headline fight seeing Dustin Poirier beating Conor McGregor after the latter fractured his tibia and fibula.
That bout failed to live up to its billing, but South African middleweight mixed martial arts fighter Dricus du Plessis delivered the goods, as he pummelled Trevin Giles to secure victory one minute and 41 seconds into the second round.
A massive right hand dropped Giles, and it was game over:
HUGE RIGHT HAND FROM DRICUS DU PLESSIS!

The win earned Dricus a cool $75 000 payday (around R1,1 million), and takes his UFC record to 2-0.
You can see a slow-mo replay of the punch from the 10:10 mark below:
Yes, that qualifies as a snotklap.
The UFC commentators did have a little trouble with his name, and Dricus decided to address that in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan:
The name is Dricus du Plessis.
We suggest you’d better remember it! 🇿🇦 @DricusDuPlessis #UFC264 pic.twitter.com/a3ohx0lcQT

Remember the name, and how to pronounce it.
