Ghislaine Maxwell has yet to get her day in court.
Her lawyers have been very busy, though, repeatedly trying to get her released on bail due to what they claim are unfair and inhumane prison conditions.
In response, federal prosecutors say Maxwell herself is at fault, keeping her cell filthy and refusing to flush the toilet, which has led to a terrible smell.
Prosecutors also pointed out that Maxwell has access to both a desktop computer and laptop for “13 hours a day, seven days a week” and “continues to receive more time to review discovery than any other inmate”.
Putting all of that aside, a new documentary, Epstein’s Shadow: Ghislaine Maxwell, seeks to shed light on how she wound up a fugitive, and now behind bars, following years of allegedly procuring victims for Epstein.
This from The Chicago Sun Times:
Some of the material will be familiar to viewers of the Netflix documentary series “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” but whereas Maxwell was the alleged accomplice lurking on the fringes in that series, she’s under a harsh and deservedly unforgiving spotlight this time…
A number of observers note that the mercurial, difficult, forceful, narcissistic Robert Maxwell was by far the most important in person in Ghislaine’s life — and after her father’s death, she attached herself to another obscenely wealthy and manipulative egomaniac in Jeffrey Epstein.
“Epstein and her father, both men had that terrible moral compass,” says former friend Christopher Mason, while the writer Anna Pasternak notes, “Ghislaine set her sights on Jeffrey Epstein, who could give her the lifestyle she’d become accustomed to.”
Imagine being so accustomed to a standard of living that you’re willing to enable a sex trafficker to maintain it?
The three-part, five-hour documentary also shines a harsh light on some other prominent figures.
Before we get to that, here’s the trailer:
Epstein’s Shadow: Ghislaine Maxwell begins streaming tomorrow (June 24) on NBC’s service, Peacock.
Unfortunately, for more dirt from the doccie, we are forced to turn to The Daily Mail.
That outlet reports that Lady Victoria Hervey, who once dated Prince Andrew, saw Maxwell ‘demonstrated how to give a blowjob’ at a social gathering in the 1990s, and ‘enjoyed telling dirty jokes.’
Among the claims in the documentary is that the British socialite began to ‘cultivate’ a relationship with the Clintons in order to launder her reputation following Epstein’s release from jail in 2009.
In the film, Lady Victoria recalls being at a dinner with Maxwell and Bill Clinton and seeing them act ‘very pally’ together – while others say Maxwell had been ‘in her element’ with him that day.
Those Bills and their cosy relationships with Epstein. Staggering.
If you look closely at that image above, where Bill is walking daughter Chelsea down the aisle at her 2010 wedding, you’ll see Maxwell’s face poking out.
To our right of Chelsea, at about shoulder height to the bride. There she is.
With so many high-profile figures sweating bullets over what Maxwell may or may not claim during her defence, some legal eagles believe that she would accept a plea deal with a lesser sentence.
That would be a travesty, because everyone who participated in Epstein’s twisted world should be held to account.
