I am not sure if there is anyone out there with a pool preference, but there is definitely a wide range of pools in the world to choose from if such a person exists.

No judgement, pools are cool.

1. The Silo Hotel, Cape Town

The Silo Hotel is in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and is a reconstructed historic grain silo.

It describes itself as “a celebration of art, style, architecture and design”.

But we’re here for the pool, which is, quite frankly, spectacular.

The rooftop pool has glass sides and infinite views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, the Atlantic Ocean, and the city skyline, which are unrivalled.

If one gets pruney fingers from being in the water too long, there’s an impressive collection of African art to take in at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), which is on the ground floor.

2. Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Tanzania

In the heart of Tanzania, among the wild animals of the Serengeti wildlife reserve, you will find The Four Seasons Safari Lodge.

Anyone lucky enough to have been on a safari adventure should agree that refreshing yourself afterwards in a pool is absolutely delicious.

At the Four Seasons Safari Lodge, you don’t even have to stop admiring the Big Five, as the free-form infinity pool affords astonishing views of the untamed landscape of the Serengeti plains:

3. Wildflower Hall, Shimla in the Himalayas, India

Wildflower Hall is a five-star hotel in Shimla atop the Himalayas and was once the residence of Lord Kitchener, erstwhile commander in chief of the British army.

Despite the colonial history, the region has still held on to its flora, fauna, and vibrant birdlife.

The Aqua Dome Spa and Hotel, in the heart of the Ötztal mountains, is lucky enough to capitalise from the only thermal spring in Western Austria.

The hotel has 12 heated pools, with both indoor and outdoor options.

However, you’d probably rather sit in one of the three bowl-shaped outdoor pools that are surrounded by magnificent peaks.

It’s already pretty amazing but can you imagine this when it is snowing?

5. Hacienda Uayamon, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

Hacienda Uayamon offers a soak in a bit of history.

It is a restored mansion house that dates back to the 17th century, and the remarkable pool is in what once was the machine room:

The surrounding walls are authentic and attractive with trees growing out of them. Rising up out of the water are two old columns.

It’s such a striking scene and floating by you feel a wave of peacefulness wash over you.

It is winter, but I am just so lus for a swim right now.
