I’ve always believed the perfect height for a cannabis tree is one that stops just below the height of the wall, so that you don’t have to deal with any nosey neighbours.
Yes, cannabis has been decriminalised for personal and private use, but the exact details surrounding what qualifies as growing for personal use is still being finalised.
(Also, get a life, nosey neighbour. That’s the third day in a row you’ve had a second glass of Chardonnay with lunch, and you don’t see us judging…)
Clearly, Cape Town resident Pieter isn’t concerned about what his neighbours think, because his cannabis tree is quite comfortably taller than the wall along which it stands.
Pieter mailed us this image, asking if we knew how tall the current biggest cannabis tree in South Africa is.
He says his tree is roughly 3,85 metres tall, and it’s a beauty:
Whilst we don’t know the answer to Pieter’s question, we did write about the winner of a competition run by enOrmus Bud and Stark Ayres back in 2019.
Together, they launched a competition to see who in South Africa could grow the largest cannabis plant, and Trevor Rossouw from East London came out tops.
His tree stood a cool 3,8 metres tall, and he credits its growth to a combination of horse manure and homegrown compost, along with adding EnOrmus Bud nutrients to the mix:
As things stand, we’re looking at the tallest cannabis tree in South Africa that we know of being in the range of 3,8 to 3,85 metres tall.
I have no doubt there’s someone out there that can at least rival this height, if not best it.
We’ll keep your name confidential, if you’d prefer, but send your picture to russel@2oceansvibe.com and let’s give your horticultural feat of ingenuity the platform it deserves.
Try and include something in the image so we get a sense of scale. Victor Matfield, for example, stands 2,01 metres tall, if you really want to vouch for authenticity.
For now, Pieter, we’ll give you the honorary title of ‘tallest cannabis tree in South Africa’, but don’t go making a trophy to celebrate just yet.
