Throw a handful of shots down the hatch, and I’ve seen a fair few people think they could rival Michael Jackson’s moonwalking capabilities.
Around the world, there is no shortage of impersonators, from the streets of India through to the wrestling rings of Brazil, but now we have our own ‘King of Pop’ here in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.
His name is Dumisani Simelane, although many have dubbed him Michael Ngcobo, and he’s blown up on Twitter this week.
An eNCA report broadcast yesterday covered Dumisani’s story:
The video which first caught eNCA’s attention was shared by Sizah Busane, who you saw talking above.
Here’s that in full:
Michael Jackson aka Michael Ngcobo @eNCA he is touring Northern KZN this was his first tour in Eshowe! Lets make him trend. During these covid times we need these positive vibes! #nonku #beyonce #SkeemSaam #PastorsWives #princekaybee pic.twitter.com/q810p82Zzg

That moonwalk is all the more impressive given the terrain he’s standing on.
Busane had been trying for a few days to attract attention to Dumisani’s skills:
Michael Ngcobo from the KZN North please make him trend his real name is Michael Ngcobo he is on tour. Started at Eshowe and went to Mandeni! Help us find him #Nonku #Beyonce #skeemsam pic.twitter.com/NJ17z9IcAA

Other users also took up the baton, filming and uploading our own ‘MJ’ in action:
Dumisani Simelane is KwaZulu-Natal’s very own Michael Jackson. Simelane, popularly known as MJ, has been touring Northern KwaZulu-Natal recently. He has been to places like Eshowe to showcase his talent.#iamSuperGuluvha | #tsotsiYaleKasi | @BbrGuardianZA pic.twitter.com/3gkEdCepvv

Yeah, the man’s got skills.
Can Dumisani do that crazy forward tilting ‘Smooth Criminal’ lean? I’m not sure, but I’d back him to nail it.
You can find Dumisani on Twitter here.
