All anyone can talk about at the moment is the explosive interview that aired this weekend, wherein Prince Harry and Meghan Duchess of Sussex told Oprah some things that I’m sure Buckingham Palace would have preferred stay in the family.
From accusations of racism against an unnamed person in the Palace to Meghan’s unhappiness (which was so extreme that she contemplated suicide), almost every line uttered by the couple was a grenade lobbed at the reputations of Royal Family members.
Except for the Queen. Apparently, she’s lovely and very generous with her pearls.
Tune in to M-Net (DStv channel 101) at 7:30PM tonight to watch the trainwreck in its entirety.
Now that the interview is over, the question on many a mind is what happens next?
At the most, I figured the events of the past weekend would make for a very awkward Christmas dinner at the end of the year (if Meghan and Harry are invited at all), but we won’t have to wait that long.
Harry is set to return to the UK for the unveiling of a statue of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, on July 1.
According to The Telegraph, a source close to the Prince said that he was determined to attend and considered it “a priority”.
There is also the possibility that he could return for a few other events such as Trooping the Colour on June 12, or the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday on June 10.
Prince Philip is entering his third week in hospital following a successful heart operation and is apparently recovering.
Meghan and Harry’s second child, a girl, is due at around the same time as the celebrations.
They felt they needed to have their say and explain to the public why they turned their backs on royal life, but now consider the matter closed, sources said.
One friend said: “It was something they felt they wanted and needed to do but now they have done it, they feel a line has been drawn under that chapter of their lives and they want to move on.”
Unfortunately, that might be easier said than done.
