This year has been pretty Netflix-heavy, while we’ve been stuck indoors, or sifting through social activities that can’t be participated in if they don’t allow for adequate physical distancing.
So, if you’ve found yourself scrolling through Netflix unable to find anything to watch, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’d exhausted the platform.
Turns out there’s a whole other side to it, hidden from you by algorithms that presume to know what you like.
The good news, per Cosmopolitan, is that there is a solution to this – a set of codes that will unlock the stuff that you didn’t know was there.
Take note:
All you have to do to unlock all of Netflix’s great content is type this link into your toolbar, replacing the four Xs with the code specific to the genre you want. http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX
As you’ve probably figured out, this only works on the desktop version.
I’m sorry app users, you’re on your own.
You’ll find the full list of codes here, or you can peruse the core categories and sub-categories below:
Action & Adventure (1365)
Children & Family Movies (783)
Classic Movies (31574)
Comedies (6548)
Cult Movies (7627)
Documentaries (6839)
To recap: if you wanted to check out a political documentary, you’d type http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/7018 into your browser.
Or, for a cult comedy, http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/9434.
You get the drift.
Sorted.
