Cape Town-based international male model Keagan Carl Troskie, formerly on the books at 20 Model Management, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today on charges of intent to do grievous bodily harm.
He is accused of attacking his wife, Lovisa Terling.
According to the charge sheet, he allegedly held and pushed her, before covering her mouth and nose in an attempt to suffocate her. He is also accused of dragging her by her hair, twisting her arm, and trying to strangle her.
IOL reports that the first witness to take the stand was a friend of Terling’s, Angela de Castro Silva, who said that she and Terling went to Rockpool Restaurant the evening of the alleged incident.
“We then bumped into a local and proceeded to Lovisa’s apartment and had one more drink. I left her house the same evening and at 6.30 the next morning, she contacted me.”
De Castro Silva provided Facebook messages exchanged between herself and Terling. Messages from the complainant said: “Help, Please come here with police. I’m so scared. He hurt me last night” and “Can you come alone?”
She says that Terling kept a spare phone next to her bed because Troskie kept her phone at night.
When she saw the message, she called the police and took them with her to Terling’s home.
Troskie’s lawyer, Lucille van Reenen, says that he claims not to have seen the witness or the police that morning.
Troskie was also recently arrested and charged for another domestic assault against Anna Maria Insam on October 25. This is one year and seven months after his first alleged assault.
He was kept overnight for Insam’s case this year and released on bail.
An unnamed accuser on EMPIRE FUND Against Violence recounts her alleged experience with Troskie, who she says is her ex-boyfriend.
He wakes me up and asks me why I was hanging out with the guy. I told him let’s speak about it tomorrow because I’m asleep. Then out of the blue his eyes went black and he grabbed me and picked me up from the bed, sat on top of me, pushing me down on the bed, biting me, strangling and suffocating me and dragging me around in my hair pulling it out until my scalp was bleeding.
He had one hand over my neck and the other over my mouth. He was screaming “shut up bitch” the whole time even when I wasn’t saying a word. I felt my life being squeezed out of me. The bedroom door was locked and he had my phone so there was no where for me to escape.
She claims to have applied for at least three protection orders, but they were either “thrown out, or disappeared”.
Troskie is out on bail, and is expected to appear for trial on December 11 at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court, for both Terling and Insam’s case.
