Talk Talk – Just Watch Mark Hollis’ Opening Vocals For This Live Version Of ‘Such A Shame’ [1986 Video]

Seth must have taken a break from watching US election updates this weekend to relive some 80s classics because we're now going to revisit a track by Talk Talk, an English band formed in 1981.

They don’t make music like they used to.

Yes, every boomer in history has said that, but there’s a degree of truth to it.

Seth must have taken a break from watching US election updates this weekend to relive some 80s classics because we’re now going to revisit a track by Talk Talk, an English band formed in 1981.

Mark Hollis is responsible for vocals, and it’s his opening to a 1986 live performance of ‘Such a Shame’ that will be under the microscope.

Where to start? Well, how about the haircuts, the keyboard player wearing a plain shirt, the guy on the shakers, the crowd… it’s all there.

Enter Hollis, from the 1:30 mark, to step things up. Join Seth in musing:

‘Such a Shame’ was inspired by one of Hollis’ favourite books, The Dice Man, and became a top 10 hit across Europe

OK, that’s enough musing for one day. As you were.

Thanks, Simon
