Making the step up to MotoGP, motorcycle road racing’s elite division, is no small task.
This year, South African Brad Binder made that leap, having climbed the ranks through Moto3 and Moto2, and he’s certainly hit the ground running.
Writing for the Daily Maverick, Craig Ray says Binder has had a blinder, becoming the first South African to win a race in the sport’s premier class.
You can watch highlights from his debut win at the Czech Grand Prix here.
He’s now won three races in total, and although some of his recent results haven’t rivalled his early success, the groundwork has been laid for a long-term career at the top.
Brad races for the Red Bull KTM Factory Team, and Red Bull has put together a doccie, Brad Binder: Becoming 33, that is a great watch for fans and novices alike.
From his start riding motorbikes as a 10-year-old, to his debut season at 25, Brad Binder: Becoming 33 covers it all.
