We’re seeing something of an early millennium revival, so the brands we loved back when The Simple Life and MTV Cribs were first airing on our televisions are finally getting a new life.
From the all-over BAPE hoodies to the rise of the Von Dutch trucker hat, the early 2000s deviated from the grungy 90s to combine street style with a neon edge that reflected the rise in new technologies.
There were a couple of trends we’d like to forget.
That double denim monstrosity, for example, that Britney and Justin wore to the 2001 American Music Awards, which had fashion magazines scrambling to find a way to make it work.
But those trucker hats we mentioned earlier deserve to be revisited, and PUMA decided that the time is now.
In their latest collaboration, PUMA has teamed up with Von Dutch for the PUMA x VON DUTCH collection.
Fortress of Solitude breaks it down:
The PUMA sporty streetwear style from its archives meets Von Dutch’s iconic graphics. The collection features a mix of nostalgic designs and details, with plenty of plaid, pink and materials.
These materials include leather and mesh, which has been inspired by the Von Dutch baseball caps.
The unisex collection features interchangeable design elements, paired with classic PUMA styles from the archives.
In the range of sneakers, you’ll find the Ralph Sampson RS-2K, Ralph Sampson Mid, and the Future Rider, all of which include a mix of pink accents on the sole, and suede uppers, with leather overlays.
Ripstop uppers, including a few with interchangeable hooks and loop patches, complete the look.
The collection also features a range of streetwear which includes a Reversible Track Jacket, Track Pants, and Sweatpants. To really drive the 2000s feel home, you’ll find the AOP Bandeau Crop Top and Graphic Tee.
It wouldn’t be a Von Dutch collaboration without a few trucker hats thrown into the mix.

While we sometimes have to wait a minute for international PUMA collaborations to hit South African shores, PUMA x VON DUTCH is here.
