As an animal lover, I would have rather avoided writing this story so as to not ruin your Thursday.
But sadly, here we are, so let’s get the basics out of the way and try and put this behind us.
The Daily Voice reports that police were called to the “upmarket Green Point, De Waterkant, area” on Tuesday morning, after residents gathered around what they thought was a human head inside of a bag, which was inside of a flower pot.
The outlet reports that a man at the scene, on Cobern Street, said the bag was giving off an “awful stench”:
A police forensic investigator was handed a spade to inspect the head that had brown hair and placed in a plastic bag that was crawling with maggots.
But upon closer inspection, cops concluded it was a dog’s head…
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk says: “Police members were called out to a complaint regarding a head that members later discovered the head is of a dog in a plastic bag.”
After finding out it wasn’t a human head, residents were said to have returned to going about their business.
I’d be pretty alarmed to find out there’s some sort of dog-beheading monster wandering my neighbourhood streets.
The Daily Voice article also contains two images, neither of which I’m going to plonk here. If you want to see those, off you go.
OK, let’s put this behind us and move on with the day, shall we?
