One can understand the anger of Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson), Julia Kavner (Marge) and Nancy Cartwright (Bart) when Fox Television explained that they would be receiving a 45% pay cut. The broadcasting network claims they can’t afford production costs and, if the actors won’t budge, they’ll pull the plug. I think I speak for everyone when I say: Fox you, Fox.
As if Fox haven’t already made a billion dollars out of the show already (they have). I mean, the show has only been running since 1989 and is only in its 23rd season, making it one of the biggest success stories in television history.
The actors, who make a decent eight million dollars a year, did propose a 30% cut in exchange for a percentage of the show’s profits from global syndication and merchandising. Fox turned it down. Because they’re greedy.
And now, some cool facts about one of the coolest shows to ever grace your television, because Fox doesn’t deserve any more mentions in this article.
Interestingly, Creator Matt Groening reportedly took just 15 minutes to sketch the characters and he actually named them after members of his own family.
They made their debut in a series of short animated features in The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987, and were granted their own series two years later.
Save The Simpsons.
