Fikile Mbalula Definitely Woke Up On The Wrong Side Of The Bed This Morning

Once again, the Minister of Transport has used his Twitter account to go off on a juvenile rant that could rather have been a simple media release.

Mondays can be a drag at the best of times.

Now imagine that the Gauteng Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) has called for your arrest, on the basis that the country’s train service, Prasa, has all but fallen apart, and the day becomes even bluer.

In the wake of calls for arrest, a normal adult politician would craft a statement and release it to the media via their social media channels, but Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula is neither normal nor adult.

Instead, the man who dubbed himself Mr Fix, with zero consideration for the thick, thick irony in play, took to Twitter to bang out a response that is best imagined being hurled from a playground’s sandpit.

Clearly, he didn’t enjoy last night’s kip and has woken up in a foul mood

The tirade began at around 11AM today with this tweet:

Fikile, that’s Carl Niehaus – you should know as you’ve sparred with him before.

Niehaus is something of a Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) spokesperson, so Fikile is making this personal.

We’ll gloss over a few more tweets and get to these gems:

Believe it or not, the transport minister is correct in that Niehaus did fake his mother’s death in order to try and wriggle out of a legal dispute.

What kind of a man does that? The kind of man that is a Jacob Zuma loyalist.

I guess we should include Carl’s response:

On with Fikile’s meltdown we go:

He also deleted this in the midst of his barrage:

How embarrassing.

What kind of a politician airs their political grievances with poorly written tweets for all to see?

Oh, wait.

For now, at least, it appears that Fikile’s toy-throwing is over, and he’s returned to retweeting tweets that focus on the building of roads and other such official business.

Another day, another reminder of the embarrassing state of the ruling party.
