When it came to light that Meghan and Harry had signed a deal with Netflix, speculation was rife as to what it would all mean, and how the Royal Family would feel about it.
Then, William and Kate posted a happy birthday message for Harry on Twitter. Meghan wasn’t in the picture, so naturally, the media went wild.
Meghan, they said, had been left out of the picture because she and Harry were in bed with the enemy (Netflix).
It has something to do with The Crown and general unhappiness about the portrayal of Prince Philip.
Many hoped that the partnership between the Sussexes and the streaming platform would take the form of a reality TV show. Personally, I’m glad that that isn’t the case.
We just got rid of Keeping up with the Kardashians – We don’t need another show about rich people going about their daily lives.
Instead, reports The Daily Mail, the couple will be involved in a number of projects, the first of which is an animated series about phenomenal women.
The series, which is already in pre-production will be aimed at a young audience.
Other projects the couple are currently working on include a wildlife documentary series, which could see the Duke and Duchess travel to Africa when global Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
And future plans include scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s programming with the couple looking to focus on stories and issues that resonate with them personally.
Then there’s this from someone who wants to remain anonymous:
Reports had suggested Harry and Meghan would be followed amid the possibility of cameras being allowed into their home in Montecito, California.
Prince Harry and Meghan were said to have been hoping to ‘give people a glimpse into their lives and see all the charity work they do’, according to a source.
I have my suspicions that these “sources” don’t actually exist.
Before you get too excited, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry said that “the Duke and Duchess will not be taking part in any reality TV shows”.
Heaven knows what the Queen would do if they let cameras follow them around.
Oh, the scandal…
