If you are a travel buff, this isn’t a great time for you. Travelling long-distance for leisure is out of the question because you wouldn’t want to risk contact en route. Road trips come ahead as the best option to fulfil your wanderlust, but you cannot be too careful with them as well. Good hygiene and safety should be your top priorities from the moment you get behind the wheel. It is equally important to carry the essentials that you will need along the way. Things are quite different in the post-pandemic world and you have to be extra cautious about steering clear of the infection. Here are some road trip essentials that you need to follow in the new normal.
Sanitize your car repeatedly
While you must clean and sanitize thoroughly before leaving, it is equally important to do it repeatedly along the way. Clean the steering wheel, seat belt buckles, dashboard, and gear shift because these are the most-touched surfaces. Pay attention to the seats, window panes and door handles as well. Ensure that you sanitize the vehicle every time you take a break while travelling.
Stock up on sanitization essentials
Needless to say, you cannot expect to be safe outdoors unless you have the proper stuff for sanitization. Before you start off, stock up on essentials like alcohol-based sanitizers, liquid soap, and disposable tissues. Don’t forget to wear your mask and gloves because they will keep you safe even if there is human contact on the way. After all, you will have to stop for toilet breaks and rest if travelling long-distance and being careful about personal protection is not a choice.
Pay attention to skincare as well
While all your focus is on safety and sanitization right now, you cannot go slack with skincare on extended road trips. Pick quality essentials like sunscreen and body lotion to keep your skin sun-safe and hydrated. Also, pack up deodorant and cleanser to stay fresh all the way. It is best to check the latest brochure catalogue of your favourite brand and order a few days before leaving. You will probably find some great deals if black Friday or sales are around.
Pack your medicine kit
The fear of the virus is enough to make you apprehensive, so it makes sense to be extra careful about your health. A complete medical check before the trip is a good idea. Ask the doctor about the medicines you can carry and take as a precaution if something goes wrong on the way. Even a normal cold can make you anxious right now, so it is important to be armed with the right information and a proper medical kit before you leave. Apart from medicines, also have the first aid stuff in your kit because you can never be too sure on the road.
Finally, carry along homemade meals and snacks because stopping over for meals is risky. You can pack some fruits and nuts to keep you full and energized all the way. Also, have plenty of water in the car to stay safe and hydrated.
