Heritage Month in September, and Heritage Day on September 24 (also known as ‘Braai Day’ to some), is celebrated annually to mark our nation’s diverse culture and heritage.
This year, some of the national public celebrations will take place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I’m sure there will be no shortage of meat being cooked, with braai masters across the country showing off their skills.
One of the toughest things (pun intended) to get right over an open flame is a steak.
So if you’re flexing your skills, and pulling off that perfect medium-rare slice (medium at a push), you need to honour it with something special, and nothing pairs better with steak than a premium Syrah.
Not just any Syrah, mind you. You’ll need the Anthonij Rupert Wyne Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Syrah 2015, grown on the slopes of Kasteelberg on the ancient soils of the Swartland.
The full-fruit flavour profile and bright acidity are designed to cut through the fattiness of any steak, the contrast sublime, and when shared in good company around a hearty fire, something to be thankful for.
To honour the occasion, Anthonij Rupert Wyne is running a great special on their superb range of Syrahs.
For R1 500, you can snap up six bottles – three 750ml Anthonij Rupert Wyne Syrah 2014, and three 750ml Cape of Good Hope Syrah 2015 – and have them delivered to your door in time for Heritage Day.
Head here to order that deal, available until October 10, 2020.
To sweeten the deal and celebrate your skills, if you share a photo of your sensational Steak and Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Syrah on Instagram, using #steakandsyrah and tagging @anthonijrupertwyne, you could be one of 12 lucky folks to each win 12 bottles of Riebeeksrivier Syrah, valued at R1 800.
I repeat – 12 bottles of the good stuff!
The competition closes on September 30, 2020, so get on it.
I love a glass of Syrah, but when it comes to sitting around a fire in the sun, I’m also partial to a Sauvignon Blanc with a few blocks of ice.
If you want a mix of wines to suit every guest at your (small, physically distanced) celebration, Anthonij Rupert Wyne has you covered.
For R950, you can order the Heritage Wine Selection, which comes packaged in a stylish box and includes:
Tim Atkin’s wine ratings 2020 singled out the Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2019 as one of the 90+ rated wines on his list. In other words, it’s a top-notch wine.
This offer runs until November 30, so if you want to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, this is also the ideal gift for the wine lover in your life.
Head here to order the Heritage Wine Selection.
If you’ve been trying to think of a way to celebrate Heritage Month, I think you know what you need to do now.
There’s also no reason to wait until September 24 to uncork a bottle of wine, chill with some mates, and take in the first sunny days of spring.
