Things are getting weirder and weirder for Adele.
This all started as a Twitter and general social media battle over whether or not she was engaging in cultural appropriation at The Notting Hill Carnival, after she posted a picture on Instagram of her wearing a bikini with the Jamaican flag on it, and her hair in “Bantu knots“.
Give it a week, and these things tend to die down.
Outraged social media users typically have short attention spans.
Unfortunately for the singer, she caught the attention of Tom Hanks’ son, Chet Hanks.
He goes by the rapper name ‘Chet Haz’, FYI.
As The Daily Mail points out, Chet likes to speak or “rap” in a fake Jamaican accent, which is as offensive as it is stupid.
For some reason he thought that this would bring him and Adele together, so he posted this on his Instagram account:

I’m sure Adele needs a moment to process that, too, before going into hiding.
Here’s the follow-up video:
Colin Hanks seems to have turned out alright, but this is what happens when you call your son ‘Chet’.
It’s no surprise that people aren’t thrilled with Chet’s repeated attempts at a Jamaican accent.
He was already in trouble for doing this at the Golden Globes earlier this year:
If you need a bit of a translation, Chet is declaring to the world that he doesn’t want a ‘mawga’ girl (skinny girl) for some reason.
Please, Tom, have a word with your boy.
