I would say the movie I’m most looking forward to at the moment is On The Rocks, which stars Bill Murray alongside Rashida Jones.
Sadly, that’s only being released in October, so until then, we’ll need something to fill the void.
The Netflix ‘Shuffle’ option may soon be rolled out across the world (if the trial goes well), which is one way to ensure you don’t spend hours scrolling through your options, and a little prep work never hurts, either.
For example, The Duchess comes out on September 11, and looks it could be one of those shows you don’t want to watch whilst sat next to your parents:
Katherine Ryan, fresh off her Netflix special “In Trouble,” came to us with an idea based on her life as a fabulous single mom living in London.
Season 1 follows Katherine as she debates if she should have a second child with her estranged and troubled baby daddy.
It is meant to be a Catastrophe-like single-cam comedy set in London.
Catastrophe is superb, so that’s setting a high bar:
If rom-coms are more your vibe, there’s also Love, Guaranteed, which comes out on September 3:
To save her small law firm, earnest lawyer Susan (Rachael Leigh Cook) takes a high-paying case from Nick (Damon Wayans Jr.), a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees love.
But as the case heats up, so do Susan and Nick’s feelings for each other. Love, Guaranteed also stars Heather Graham and is directed by Mark Steven Johnson.
Don’t expect too many twists and turns from a basic rom-com plot that’s been recycled in various forms for decades, but at least you know what you’re getting:
So, you call yourself a foodie?
You might want to sink your teeth into (sorry, it’s been a long week) the next season of Chef’s Table, which comes out on September 2:
The Emmy-nominated series shifts its focus to the art of the barbecue, featuring accomplished chefs from the US, Australia and Mexico.
Here’s that trailer:
Finally, we have Rising Phoenix, out on August 26, and a pretty uplifting watch:
Rising Phoenix tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games. From the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet, the Paralympics sparked a global movement which continues to change the way the world thinks about disability, diversity & human potential.
Both the Paralympic Games and the Olympic Games have been postponed until next year, so this will have to do:
If doccies are your vibe, be sure to watch My Octopus Teacher, a South African story that has received rave reviews, which debuts on Netflix on September 7.
Right, we promised you four trailers, and we delivered.
With that, we say goodbye.
