For every Jeffrey Epstein victim that comes forward to tell her story, there are more than likely countless others that remain silent.
Thankfully, enough women have shown immense bravery in speaking up, which led to the already convicted paedophile being arrested and charged with a number of sex crimes.
His day in court will never come, but Ghislaine Maxwell’s draws ever nearer, despite her legal team’s efforts to duck and dive.
Recently, a lawsuit filed last January, against both Epstein’s estate and Maxwell by a woman named only as ‘Jane Doe’, has come to light, and contains some serious allegations.
As the Independent reports, it contains allegations of long-term abuse at the hands of Epstein and Maxwell, as well as a troubling story that took place in 1995.
Doe alleges Epstein took her to Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s Florida resort:
“Doe also claims Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump at Mar-A-Lago when she was only 14 years old…’This is a good one, right?’ Epstein asked the future president, who allegedly smiled and nodded before sharing a chuckle with the depraved hedge funder.”
This lawsuit does not accuse the sitting president of any sexual misconduct with the victim, but it does raise the question of how much Mr Trump knew prior to Epstein’s arrest.
Footage of Epstein and Trump partying together at Mar-A-Lago back in 1992 has been widely shared (a still from that video is the image featured up top), and the two shared a friendly relationship until at least 2002.
That year saw Trump call Epstein a “terrific guy” and “a lot of fun to be with”, adding that “it is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side”.
Fair to say that quip hasn’t aged well.
According to The Grifter’s Club, a recently released book, the two fell out five years later:
[The book] claimed that Mr Trump banned Epstein from the Florida resort in 2007 after the financier hit on a member’s daughter.
Sarah Blaskey, a Miami Herald investigative reporter who told the book, told her publication that a Mar-a-Lago member claimed Mr Trump “kicked Epstein out after Epstein harassed the daughter of a member.”
She added: “The way this person described it, such an act could irreparably harm the Trump brand, leaving Donald no choice but to remove Epstein.”
In 2015, Trump publicly called Epstein’s British Virgin Island getaway “cesspool island”, adding that reporters should ask Prince Andrew about it.
Meanwhile, Maxwell has been complaining about the lack of email and a desk in her prison cell, where she is being kept in solitary confinement, reportedly due to safety concerns.
