Over the years, modern-day Houdini David Blaine has attempted some wild feats of endurance. In 1999, he buried himself under a three-ton water tank for a week, subsisting on nothing more than a few teaspoons of water a day.
Then in 2000, he tried to encase himself in ice for 72 hours, but it failed.
More recently, he has hosted TV specials where he performs magic tricks for celebrities like Drake and Margo Robbie.
The video of the trick he performed for Drake, Steph Curry, and Dave Chappelle in 2016, currently has almost three million views on YouTube.
His appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he performed a few simple card tricks before spitting out a frog that nobody was expecting, has been watched more than 30 million times.
So, it makes sense that as he embarks on his first dangerous stunt in over decade, it will be broadcast live on YouTube.
Over to The Verge:
Called Ascension, the event will entail Blaine attaching himself to a variety of helium balloons and attempting to float across the Hudson River from New Jersey to New York. The weather-permitting event will happen on August 31st across multiple hours. Verizon is sponsoring the show, which was made in partnership with YouTube Originals.
Mark it down – August 31.
Blaine announced the stunt on Twitter:
This stunt has been 10 years in the making.
