Recently, we took a moment to process the genius of the new iPhone SE.
It’s a powerhouse packed into a pocketable phone, at an affordable price.
The dust has hardly settled, but Apple shows no signs of slowing down, and they’re forging ahead with new product development.
This year, they’ve taken a dire situation, a global pandemic, and faced it head-on by committing to keeping people connected.
They’re now set to release the new iPhone 12 (reports suggest sometime around mid-October) and it could change everything.
Fans of Apple products have been waiting for the company to release 5G enabled phones, but they’re taking it a step further. It appears as if all of the new phone releases this year will be able to connect to the next generation of super-fast wireless networks.
According to CNN, this means the iPhone 12 would be “a must-have product”.
“We previously were [expecting] 4 models with a mix of 4G/5G for the iPhone 12 unveil, however now based on supply chain checks we are expecting ONLY 5G models for the Fall launch,” Wedbush analyst Dan Ives wrote in an investor note Sunday evening.
…analysts largely expect the 5G iPhone to generate a “super cycle” of consumers buying new devices. Ives said he estimates roughly 350 million of the total 950 million iPhones on the market could be upgraded within the next year to 18 months.
The 5G-connected iPhone also has the potential to improve the customer experience for Apple’s digital services, including Apple TV+.
Forbes reckons the upcoming iPhone is “not just going to be fast, it’s going to blow the rest of the industry away”.
[Insider tips reveal that] Apple’s new A14 chipset inside the range will offer CPU and GPU gains of 40% and 50% respectively.
That equates to a multi-generational increase on the iPhone’s A13, which is already the fastest smartphone chipset on the market.
An A14 chip would deliver a massive performance upgrade, making the iPhone 12 line-up some of the most futureproof smartphones in history.
If you’re keen on the upcoming iPhone, but unsure about where South Africa stands on the 5G front, you’ll be pleased to know that in July, the terms and conditions of South Africa’s progress towards a 5G mobile network were gazetted.
Provisions have been made to build 5G masts across the country, so while it isn’t available everywhere yet, a broader rollout of the high-speed technology is expected in the coming months. As it stands, 5G currently has limited availability in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town.
When the 5G is widely available, you’ll want to be ready, so keep an eye out for those iPhone release dates in October.
For now, you can head on over to Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer for all of your Apple-related needs, whether you need some help navigating your new device, or want to upgrade to the latest model.
Added bonus – you can do it all from the comfort of your own home, via their Virtual Shopping Assistant, who will answer any questions you might have and guide you through the process.
