This is pretty cool.
It’s a website called Window Swap, that lets you flip through the views from people’s homes around the world.
At first, I thought it was a live webcam thing, but it’s actually 10-minute recordings that people make and submit.
That’s better, because then you can have a far larger number of participants.
Here’s what their website says:
WindowSwap?
Let’s face it. We are all stuck indoors. And it’s going to be a while till we travel again.
Window Swap is here to fill that deep void in our wanderlust hearts by allowing us to look through someone else’s window, somewhere in the world, for a while.
A place on the internet where all we travel hungry fools share our ‘window views’ to help each other feel a little bit better till we can (responsibly) explore our beautiful planet again.
Send us your view!
We need all the window views we can get. So, please send yours to qunaliaa@gmail.com. Send us a 10-minute, horizontal HD video of your window and frame, with your first name and location for credits. All kinds of windows are welcome!
Let’s travel without moving for now. Let’s window swap.
Important Update
All videos have sound. So please make sure not to say anything private or sensitive. If you want your sound to be removed please let us know. Or record a video without sound. To safeguard your privacy, we will only display your first name in the credits. If you want your full name to be added, let us know.
I was so excited about this, I added my own from my shower window – gazing over the Constantia treetops towards Ou Kaapse Weg and Cape Point. I was naked when I set it up, as is my wont.
They should add a rating system so you can say whether someone’s view is nice or shit. But that would never be allowed. There would be an outrage.
How dare you judge. My view is my body.
