Honey badgers aren’t known to take defeat lying down.
The internet is full of videos like this, showing the plucky animal battling a leopard, and a honey badger named Stoffel has become known around the world for his Houdini-like escape skills.
Even the most fiercely independent of animals may occasionally need a helping hand, though, which was the case with a honey badger that became stuck in a hole under a tree.
Rangers Sean Zeederberg and Pete Thorpe came across the trapped animal at Londolozi Game Reserve (part of the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, situated on the western border of Kruger National Park), but getting it out wasn’t quite as simple as they first thought.
