When I think back to the first time I laid eyes on Joe Exotic, it seems like a lifetime ago.
Sheesh, a great deal has happened since then, for Joe himself, that ‘you know what’ Carole Baskin, and the world at large.
The timing of the series’ release was perfect, and with large swathes of the world cooped up at home, Tiger King spent a full 50 consecutive days in the top 10 most popular shows on Netflix.
That’s only the fourth-longest streak of all time, and it’s the quite brilliant Ozark that sits atop the list, featuring in the top 10 for 57 consecutive days.
In third place is Outer Banks, which spent 51 days on the list, but it’s Avatar: The Last Airbender that is all set to make history.
If the show features on that list for one more day, it will usurp Ozark and hold the streak all on its own. Forbes below with the rest of the top 10 streakers:
5. All American – 42 days
6. Love is Blind – 39 days
7. Space Force – 34 days
8. Dead to Me – 32 days
9. 13 Reasons Why – 28 days
10. Money Heist – 24 days
Quite a jump from Tiger King‘s 50 days in fourth, and fifth place’s All American, with a paltry 42 days.
More on what makes Avatar: The Last Airbender a worthy competitor:
Since the famed animated series’ Netflix debut on on May 18, Avatar: The Last Airbender has accrued 334 points—which ranks only behind Tiger King (387 points), Ozark (377 points) and Outer Banks (356 points).
[Read more on how those points are calculated here.]
While Avatar hasn’t accrued as many points as those Netflix projects, the series has consistently ranked highly since its premiere. In May, the show ranked third amongst all shows on Netflix with 123 points (behind Dead to Me and Outer Banks) and spent its first five days atop the Daily Top 10 list; in June, Avatar ranked third once again with 162 points (behind 13 Reasons Why and Space Force); and currently Avatar ranks sixth in the month of July with 49 points.
The show’s popularity is slowing somewhat, but it only has to hang on for one more day to be alone atop what is a coveted list.
Go on, we back you.
