Raise your hand if a taxi has ever put your life in danger. At the recent launch of Transport Month in Richard’s Bay, Santaco president Jabulani Mthembu made it clear that he is fully behind Transport Minister S’bu Ndebele’s call for a speed limit reduction. He’s also urging motorists to stop “rushing” on our roads. Rich.
This next statement from Jabulani might just make you throw your laptop out the window, laugh until you pass out and go into a catatonic shock-like state, out of pure disbelief.
People in this country are always rushing from one point to reach another point, and in the process perish on our roads. We need to rally behind our transport minister as the people of this country to save lives on our roads.
He is the head of SA’s taxi governing body. Gotta love that “we” he throws in there.
He also said:
A speed limit reduction was not the only solution to curb the road accident death toll, it is important for South Africans to rally behind Ndebele.
I’m at a loss for words.
