UPDATE: According to TimesLIVE:
Search and rescue teams on Wednesday recovered the body of missing Cape Town trail runner Ken Stephen.
This after a body was spotted on the mountain slopes below Table Mountain’s Africa Face at about 3pm. A rescue helicopter was then dispatched.
“We can now confirm that the body of the person we have been searching for since 6 July 2020 has been found. The wallet, car keys and the clothing confirmed his identity. The body will later have to be identified by the family,” said Johann Marais of Wilderness Search and Rescue.
While it was not exactly clear what had happened, Marais said: “The location where he was found indicates that he may have fallen from a high location. We extend our condolences to the family, his friends and the trail running fraternity.”

Our most heartfelt sympathies go out to Ken’s family and friends.

The search for 36-year-old Ken Stephen continues today.
The trail runner has been missing since Monday, when he left home and headed to Platteklip Gorge at around 2:30PM.
According to a Facebook post by the Mountain And Trail Enthusiasts Trail Running Club, his car was found parked at the bottom of Platteklip Gorge.
As you can see from the image above, he was last seen wearing pink shorts, a dark jacket and black running shoes.
Johan Marais, from Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR), spoke with News24:
“Members of WSAR got together and they, in conjunction with the overdue person’s friends, decided to do a search of the contour path and the path down to the blockhouse,” Marais said, adding that weather conditions were bad…
Marais said Stephen’s cell phone had been found, but continued searching yielded no result.
“Shortly after midnight, the teams reported that the missing person’s cellphone appeared to be on the Clifton side of Lion’s Head…
“Further searchers moved up from a temporary base at Nettleton Road. The search on that side had no result.”
Searches continue on foot and by helicopter, and there has been a call for volunteers who wish to assist with the search this morning to gather at the Table Mountain lower cable car before 8:30AM.
Via this Facebook post:
Hi all, we’ve just chatted to Search & Rescue and they are looking for assistance in the ongoing search of a friend of ours.
If you have time be at the lower cable car before 8:30am tomorrow where you will be signed in. You will then be assigned to a group and sent to search a particular area of the mountains with a group leader.
If you can and would like to help, are strong and willing then just get there with adequate supplies and gear for about 6 hours minimum.
Please don’t waste anyone’s time unless you can cover all of the above.
Ken is a very dear friend to the 2oceansvibe community, so any and all help is greatly appreciated.
