It’s been a while since I’ve watched a Doomsday-type movie.
Truth be told, the genre isn’t really my thing. But, if you were to pick somebody to try and outrun a comet en route to ending human civilisation as we know it, Gerard Butler isn’t a bad place to start.
There’s a touch of War of the Worlds about the trailer, as Butler is just another bloke looking to save his family from the apocalypse, so I guess he’s also somewhat relatable.
The movie’s synopsis, via Screen Rant:
A family fights for survival as a planet-killing comet races to Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary.
Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garrity’s experience the best and worst in humanity.
As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.
If all goes to plan, this one will hit US cinemas from August 14.
Save us, Gerard:
I can’t be the only one watching this trailer and thinking is now really the time we want to watch a movie about the end of days?
Well, if apocalyptic porn is experiencing a serious surge in popularity, then maybe we do.
